About

Making the public record usable — since 1973.

Public information is everywhere and almost impossible to use. It lives on thousands of separate government and institutional sites, in inconsistent formats, behind clumsy navigation. States News Service turns it into a single, clean, structured, reviewable feed.

The problem

Governments and public institutions publish constantly — releases, statements, filings, rulings — but that record is scattered across thousands of sites and formats. For anyone who needs to monitor it at scale, it's technically available and practically out of reach.

Our approach

We collect it the right way: original, official, non-paywalled sources; structured feeds before brittle scraping; human review to keep only what matters; and one clean schema out the other end. The result is data you can trust — consistent, sourced and export-ready.

What we hold to.

Original source only

The governing body's own release, unaltered — never a rewrite.

Legitimate by design

Official feeds and sitemaps first — low-risk and respectful of publishers.

Reviewed, not raw

Human relevance review separates a feed from a crawl.

Always current

Rosters self-refresh; gaps trigger alerts, so coverage never silently slips.

The company

States News Service is an independent publisher based in The Plains, Virginia, delivering to content licensees worldwide. Licensing and client relationships are managed by our sales agent, MEI Global, LLC. Feeds are delivered by SFTP as clean XML or CSV, on the schema each client needs.

Build on a record you can trust.
